Sue’s daughter Kelly is 15 years old and has Down Syndrome and Autism. Her family's experiences in raising a disabled child have brought challenges and gifts. The challenges are ones that all parents of children with special needs are familiar with as is the gift of being able to appreciate life experiences in a new way. Sue and Dave are grateful for their close family and friends and feel fortunate to have such a wonderful support structure in their lives.
Many families are not so fortunate and they would like to help. Sand Dollar Design’s mission is to contribute to causes dear to Sue’s heart. In line with this goal 10% of the purchase price of all jewelry will be donated to various causes including schools working with children with Autism, organizations to help families and children with special needs, and direct donations to families in crisis.
In addition, please contact us to design a bracelet or line of jewelry for a cause important to you. For these specific causes, 20% of the purchase price will benefit the organization or individual of choice. Sue has already done this for breast cancer awareness as well as autism and special needs awareness through the Boston Higashi School in Randolph, Massachusetts, the Community of Resources for Special Education (CORSE) in Scituate, and direct donations to families in need. Or, if you would like to host a jewelry party, 20% of all SALES will go directly to the charitable cause of your choice.
